Route

After joining the morning service in the Abbey Church, I walked on, again besides the Rhein-Main-Donau-Kanal, following it downstream towards the Donau (Danube) river.

It was overcast but the green trees besides the blue canal made for a beautiful backdrop for my day’s walk. On the way I met a huge herd of sheep being relocated by a few shepherds. There was around 750 of them, answered one of the shepherds when I asked.

Sunshine eventually started to break through the thick cloud cover as I followed the canal past the town of Beilngries to my destination, the village of Töging, near Dietfurt. Here I visited the parish church dedicated to Saint Bartholomew, one of the Twelve Apostles.
