Route

I had a nice chat with Ganesan from Singapore at breakfast, then walked on through farmland to the town of Königshofen, visiting the church dedicated to St. Maurice and a chapel dedicated to St. Anthony, built in 1872.

I continued south, following the River Tauber, to Bad Mergentheim. On the way I got talking to Andreas, who kindly invited me into his impressive garden for cola and cake, and showed me his museum-like garage attic full of historical curiosities, such as antique farming equipment, vintage crockery and old firemen’s helmets.

His wife Margarita and adult children Catterina and Alex were all very friendly and we managed to communicate through their good English and my limited German. They also had two beautiful pet tortoises that seemed to be enjoying a good life in the garden. Many thanks to the family for their hospitality.
