Route
A misty morning gave way to another warm day with temperatures of up to to 25°C (77°F). I had another long day’s walk, through the peaceful Western Transdanubian countryside.
I passed through numerous villages and visited their parish churches, including Dunaszigeti (which means “Danube Island”, as it is situated between the Zátonyi-Duna River and the Danube River), Doborgazsziget, Püksi and Dunaremete.
This day is a national holiday to commemorate the Hungarian Uprising of 1956. I visited a memorial to that event in Dunasziget.
I also accidentally dropped my hat along the way, and back-tracked for about 1 km through Doborgazsziget to try and find it. Someone had kindly picked it up and placed it on a small post for me to find. Thank you!
