Route

Crossing the Altmühl river outside of Töging, I then rejoined the Rhein-Main-Donau-Kanal. Just past the village of Griesstetten was a beautiful small chapel built into the rock, among the trees: the “Sermon Chapel”. Around the corner from there was the Pilgrimage Church and burial place of three 12th Century Irish saints: Marinus, Vimius and Zimius. This has been a popular pilgrimage destination for centuries.

I walked along countryside tracks and roads, close to the canal, visiting a church in the village of Harlanden before passing through woodland and arriving into Riedenburg.

After visiting the local church I met someone called Ude and we had a nice chat about the pilgrimage.
