Route

Very cold, quite wet and very windy! I walked through Amble, visiting St. Cuthbert’s Church and the Trinity Methodist Church.

At the Methodist church I joined an ecumenical service for Christian Unity. Here I got talking to Mary, an Elder and Lay Preacher from the nearby St. Mark’s United Reformed Church, who was very supportive of the pilgrimage.

From there I carried on to the pier, walking the loop across the piers while admiring the stormy sea. I then followed the coast to Cresswell, alternating between the Coast Path, tracks in the sand dunes and the beach. With the wind (and rain) on my back I made it to Cresswell, then headed inland on the direct minor roads, passing St. Bartholomew’s Church, to Ellington.
