Route

I walked through the town of Melk and followed a path up the hill to the Benedictine Abbey.

I joined the morning service in the Abbey Church then visited a small side chapel.

The patron saint of Melk, who’s remains are interred here, is Heiliger Koloman (Saint Coloman), who traditionally is regarded as the son of an Irish king and a pilgrim heading for Jerusalem in the 11th Century.
